That looked like fun! At my friends' wedding, the women danced to "You Don't Own Me" song from The First Wives' Club. It was great! If I was told not to do something at my own party, I would invite all of the elders and anyone else not comfortable with it to leave, then I and the rest of us would do what we wanted.

i used to skip the meeting on thanksgiving and go alone to a restaurant for a turkey dinner.

it was lonely but felt good to do a holiday and not miss out.

Special Needs talk at our Hall tonite...

talk was about appreciating jehovah's provisions, something like that.... the po gave the talk.

apparently, after the last co visit, our congo got a letter from headquarters, informing us that our numbers are wayyyy down.

several inactive publishers, several more irregular, poor meeting attendance, and our hourly average is less than the national average (8.3 compared to 9.9).

You missed Thanksgiving for a meeting?! Well, there had to be someone to whom to read that letter. For a couple of years before I quit, I used to skip the meeting and go to a restaurant for Thanksgiving meals by myself. It was lonely but worth it.

i remember an elder walking in the hall and it was the 1st thing he said to me as he saw me dealing with the sound dept.

"where is your jacket"!!!!

They harrassed my 11 year old son for not wearing a button down shirt with tie. He was only in the audience and had no parts. We were new to that cong. The PO got really disgusted that he was not wearing a suit. Growth spurts anyone?! Way too expensive to keep a kid in suits.

Why God permits wickedness..the argument and counter logic

when i was a pioneer i used to get the comment a lot, as i am sure most here have.. my stock answer was the analogy.... wt 2002 10/1 page 7 as an example.

imagine a father allowing his child to go thru a painful operation in-order to get better...hence why god permits suffering.

anyway i used to trot this out without any counter arguments.. even when i left, it still seemed a reasonable explanations, then something clicked.

I admire the strength I see in one post, but I'm no martyr. I too am a survivor but also extremely resentful for what I went through. There is a place for righteous indignance. I don't let it run my life, however. I do allow myself a well deserved pity party then I move on.
